Deadpool & Wolverine Movie Review: Star Performance
While the story may be silly and the plot disjointed, these issues are overshadowed by the stellar performances, particularly from Reynolds and Jackman. Reynolds proves once again that taking on this role was the best decision of his career. His antics perfectly match the character, delivering hilarious and effective stream-of-consciousness comedy, while also nailing the more sentimental moments.
On the other hand, seeing Hugh Jackman return to the role that made him famous feels just right. His more comic-accurate suit and effortless portrayal of the character are spot-on. Although Jackman seemed to have retired with Logan, Deadpool & Wolverine makes a strong case for him to continue in the role, even as he ages. At this point, it’s hard to imagine anyone else doing justice to Wolverine.
Deadpool & Wolverine Movie Review: The Last Word
Deadpool & Wolverine feels reminiscent of Marvel’s golden age. If the film succeeds, it could become a blueprint for future installments. With the Russo Brothers returning to direct the next two Avengers films, it seems Marvel is on the path to recovery. Let’s hope the lessons learned stick.
