Arun Matheswaran embarks on a journey to create a world where the audacious courage of a betrayer turned rebel is put to the test!
Captain Miller Movie Review :
After
the mind-boggling question of "Why did Katappa kill Baahubali?",
there's another burning question that demands immediate attention - why
do South Indian filmmakers have an obsession with making movies that
stretch over three hours? Now, don't get me wrong, I understand that
filmmakers are like architects of their own worlds, but do we really
want to spend so much time just to get to the point? It can get a tad
bit tedious. However, Arun Matheswaran has managed to create a
captivating world that is worth every minute of its runtime. Unable to
delve into the controversial real-life Tamil Eelam liberation struggle
stories, he instead crafts a world where the audacious bravery of a
traitor-turned-revolutionary is put to the test.
While Siddhartha
Nuni's cinematography may not quite match the extraordinary vision set
by Arun Matheswaran's direction and screenplay (co-written with Madhan
Karky), the film's ultra-realistic portrayal, much like Sonchiriya,
immerses you in its rawness. And just like Kantara, the village itself
becomes a character, drawing you in with its rich cultural significance
that is beautifully explored.
Star Performance :
There
are certain roles that instantly make you think, "This xyz actor would
be absolutely perfect for this character." And when it comes to Captain
Miller, Dhanush is definitely one of those actors. He embodies the role
in such a way that it feels like he was born to play it. While there may
be a few hiccups in his character arc graph, he manages to overcome any
shortcomings with his incredible acting skills.
Now, let's talk
about Shiva Rajkumar's cameo. It may not be as exceptional as the
Jailer's role, but it still offers enough substance to leave you in awe.
On the other hand, Priyanka Arul Mohan and Nivedhithaa Sathish bring an
undeniable spark to the screen with their presence. However, it's a
shame that they don't get any standout scenes that would truly make them
memorable.
